Water Solubles Paving the Way for a Marriage between Hemp and Hops
There’s no better time than the dog days of Summer for Bayou City Hemp Company to announce Mixer Elixir CBD and Third Coast Blends Delta-9 seltzers are now available on tap.
Shortly after Bayou City Hemp and 8th Wonder Brewery collaborated to launch Texas’ first canned-hemp seltzers in July 2021, the seltzers became the top selling “to-go” item for the brewery. Naturally, kegs and pony kegs were underway and are now available for bars to offer customers a crisper and more convenient option at a lower cost to businesses.
Mixer Elixir and Third Coast Blends Soft Seltzers were created with the belief that people ought to have the choice to relax with a beverage, with or without alcohol. The zero-proof, zero-calorie, and zero-sugar hemp seltzers come during a time when people struggle with the dilemma of being more health-conscious and canna-curious but wish to avoid the stigma of socializing without smoking or drinking.
Each year the number of ‘cannabis-curious’ and ‘sober-curious’ crowds grows exponentially. According to Brightfield Group, a consumer insights company for cannabis industries, cannabis beverage sales are expected to hit $1 billion by 2025 - a significant increase from $200 million in sales in 2019.
Of course, the success of hemp seltzers came at no surprise for Aaron Corsi, cofounder and brewmaster of 8th Wonder Brewery, who often experimented with new flavor launches, and had his sights set on hemp many years ago.
Unfortunately, 8th Wonder’s first experiment with hemp never saw the light of day due to issues with suspension (suspension is a mixture of liquids with particles of a solid which may not dissolve in the liquid) from another hemp business that had yet to master water solubles.
